Homemade Greeting Card: Pink and Blue Merry Christmas Card

Hello everyone!

I am so excited about the card I have to show y’all (yes that’s how we say it here in the south).

This card turned out even more beautiful than I could have imagined. When I was pulling out scrapbook paper for the color scheme I wanted to use for my homemade Christmas greeting card, Mom was a little nervous, but after it was finished she changed her tune and was so jealous! LOL (Mom I know you’re reading this I had to tell the truth). Now for the moment you all are waiting for, here is a picture of the beautiful handmade christmas card I made.

I am so in LOVE with this little card. The more I play the better I seem to get; especially when I don’t have other things going on for the day and I can just focus on my scrapbook pages or cards. This card layout is a sketch I got from the Clean and Simple Stamping Blog this week and I tweaked it a little to add ornaments instead of stars. There are so many different things you can do with this layout. I’m actually working on two more card that look like this, but in stead of ornaments I’m doing candy and gingerbread men and the other is going to have presents strung across it. This layout is so simple you can make it work for anytime of year.

The scrapbook pages used for this project are just stock pages from Michael’s craft store.I used the cricut cutter to make my ornaments with the Joys of the Season cartridge. If you enjoy making holiday greeting cards, scrapbook pages or any other crafts and don’t have this cartridge for your cricut, get it! There are so many cool little cut outs and they have a whole section dedicated to the 12 Days of Christmas. I embossed the top of the ornaments with silver embossing powder, as well as the Merry Christmas sentiment. The silver behind the ornaments and bordering the sentiment is a mirrored, silver cardstock. To decorate the ornaments with a little bling I used rhinestones and OH MY, they look so elegant and pretty.

Homemade Greeting Card: Non-Traditional Christmas Card

WOW! I am so excited about this card. For those of you that have been following my blog, you know that I’m not big on making greeting cards. I decided to give it a shot this week because I needed to play around for a design for my yearly Christmas invitations to the family Christmas party. This card turned out beautifully.

Isn’t this card just absolutely gorgeous. I’m pretty partial to this card, I think I may use this because of the lovely shade of pink underneath with the hint of gold – the gold makes everything pop! The bottom of the white is a lace looking Christmas punch made by Martha Stewart. The background is made with the a cuttlebug background as well as the flower and sentiment.

This card came together without any difficulty and I am so excited! I will be entering this blog into the following blog challenges for the week.

Homemade Greeting Card – Baby It’s Cold Outside

This is a white on white homemade greeting card, that is so cute and simple you are going to want to make this card yourself as a quick holiday greeting card. The picture really does not do this card justice.

This is such as cute card with the bundled up polar bear on the front. This project was relatively simple to make if an individual has the tools and equipment I had available. This card was created using the Cuttle Bug. The polar bear was cut out of the “Joys of the Season” Cricut Cartridge. The embossed background and highlighted seasons greetings on the bottom of the card is a Cuttle Bug product, but I’m not really sure what the name is.

I am so excited about this simple little card that I think I may tweak it a little bit and send it as a Holiday party invitation. The cards for men blog is looking for cards that would be best suited for men and dedicated to the approaching holiday season. The cuttle bug blog is looking for holiday themed greeting cards using the cuttle bug and the Paper Cupcake blog is wanting a wintry season white on white card.

Homemade Card Making: Let It Snow Christmas Card

Mom and I figured since the website was called scrapbooks and keepsakes, that we should showcase other items on our blog besides just scrapbook pages, which can get boring since we tend to work on various paper crafts from time to time. This card is the first homemade greeting card I’ve ever made and I am so proud of it. I love snowflakes, they are so beautiful and that is where I got my inspiration for this card.

 

 

Do the color schemes of these relaxing blues make you think of curling up by the fire with a blanket and a warm cup of cocoa on a snowy day in December? I didn’t struggle with this homemade card like I thought I would, even though it was my first attempt. The only thing that reminded me of the Christmas holidays were the rubber stamps I selected from our Christmas/Winter selection. The rubber stamps actually came from a dollar store called the Mighty Dollar in the North Carolina area and the scrapbook selection in this store is out of this world. The Mighty Dollar features tons of products from K&Company as well as Making Memories, which is who created these stamps. The small snowflake stamps dipped in the darker ink were clear-acrylic un-mounted stamps that I randomly placed on a medium sized block, to create a one of a kind image using several stamps from different making memories Christmas and winter stamp collections. The larger snowflake in the center was stamped in embossing adhesive with a light blue embossing powder added to the adhesive. Some of the snowflakes have some glitter glue to add a little more on the card. The let it snow at the bottom of the page is stamped in the same color blue as the snowflakes and is also a stamp I found in one of the Making Memory stamp collections I found at the dollar store Mighty Dollar.

The inside of my card features a blue stamped image that says “Merry Christmas” in cursive on white cardstock and features the same blue polka dot scrapbook paper behind it as the front of my homemade card.

This card is a great choice for beginners that have embossing tools; however, someone that wishes to focus on card making, but doesn’t have the embossing tools can simply stamp the center snowflake in a light blue ink.

I know a lot of paper craft creators are starting to focus on digital scrapbooking and digital paper crafts, but it’s still not the same as creating the gift completely with your hands and makes it more personal.

So go ahead and get a jump start on your Christmas card mailing list and start making those homemade greeting cards now. This card can be done in a matter of a few minutes, making it a perfect homemade card choice for those with a long mailing list for the holidays. Friends and family will be calling you all holiday season, thanking you for this beautiful holiday card that they receive in the mail.
