Christmas Scrapbook Page Idea: The Joy of Toys

Oh my gosh, I am so excited. For those of you reading my blog if you haven’t looked at my Santa Was Here Christmas Scrapbook Page, check it out. I won the weekly challenge at Crop Stop. I won a $15.00 gift card to the crop stop store, so I guess it really does pay off to enter challenges, no matter what you think of your work because others may enjoy it as much as you do.

Anyways, on to today’s scrapbook page layout. This is a Christmas scrapbook page of my son opening his toys at Christmas.

100_1418

This Christmas, 2009, was a very special Christmas for me and my husband. We had to relocate due to him losing his job right before the holidays and were still struggling to make ends meet. When we realized we weren’t going to have enough money for our kids at Christmas, we decided to hit the local yard sales in the area to find nice toys. The lord really blessed us. We found brand new v-tech toys, transformers and DVDs people were getting rid of because their children didn’t play with them. Our kids had the biggest Christmas yet and we didn’t spend, but maybe $50.00. The funniest part of this Christmas is the fact we didn’t have any boxes to put the toys in, so we went to the local liquor store and got boxes for the gifts. THANK GOD THEY COULDN’T READ! Haha, everyone laughed and cried, but it was such a great Christmas.

I used several different papers in this challenge, but the real treat was the cricut cuts outs I placed on the scrapbook page. I used the Joys of the Season Cricut cartridge and made the holly leaves and the garland wreaths in the top left and bottom right of the page. The garland is just a wreath I cut using the cricut and then I cut it in half.

I am also entering this in several challenges:

Kaboodle Doodle – Christmas Colors

Lexi Creations – Anything for a man/boy

Lollipop Crafts – Color: Red/Cream/Chocolate Brown

Paper Playtime – Cricut Image and Buttons

The Pink Elephant – Snowflakes and Sparkle

I hope you enjoyed the layout and beautiful story as much as I enjoyed making the memories and scrapping them.

Love, Jess

Scrapbook Page Ideas: Black and White with Polka Dots and Stripes

I really love all of the wonderful people who have been reading my blog and leaving such uplifting comments. Every week I see my homemade cards and scrapbook pages getting better and better and it is because all of the wonderful support from those reading my blog.

For my first scrapbook page this week (sorry it’s late) I combined several challenges that were available on other sites. Even mixing the different challenges turned into a beautiful baby girl scrapbook page of Braelynn. Here is the finished product.

100_1395

I know there is a lot going on here, but I am entering this page into six different challenges. Here’s what the rules of requirement were for each challenge I entered.

365 Cards Blog – You had to use three different “R” items on your page or card. I used ribbon, rick rack and rhinestones; which are kind of hard to see in the photo, but are located in the left corner of the page next to the rick rack.

All Sorts Challenge Blog – For this challenge you were required to use the colors black and white in combination with one other color. The other color I chose was lime green.

Crazy 4 Challenges Blog – This was any anything goes challenge.

Secret Crafter Blog – In this challenge you had to feature spots and stripes on your page. I didn’t have any striped paper in a color combination that would work well for this page, so I created my own with a plaid maker from Stampin’ Up. My daughter is also wearing a black and white polka dot shirt, which I thought went well with the theme.

Sketch Saturday – This was a challenge that required you to follow a certain sketch or layout for the scrapbook page you were creating. I think the sketch turned out well.

Andrea’s Stampin’ Moments Blog – This is where the lime green came into play and why I chose that color over other colors. The challenge required you to use black, white and lime green in your scrapbook layout or homemade greeting card.

I hope you all enjoyed

looking or viewing this scrapbook page as much as I enjoyed making it and displaying it. Now get to scrappin’ those scrapbooks and keepsakes.

Scrapbook Page Idea – Baby Girl Easter Egg Hunt

So I know, I know. Everyone has Christmas Scrapbook Pages on the brain, but I was really tired of looking at Christmas this

early in the season, so I decided to make a scrapbook page that involved some of my favorite photographs. This Easter scrapbook page featuring my baby girl is so beautiful and really fun. It doesn’t feature any special papers or scrapbook embellishments, but it still looks great. Here is the finished product.

100_1378

The colors used in this picture were for a challenge: Colour Create – I was really excited when I saw this set of colors on a challenge for this time of year, so I had to take part – even though I wasn’t going to create a Christmas themed card. The colors required for this challenge were deep pink, turquoise and ivory.

I fulfilled the deep pink requirement with the 12x12 page I used. I highlighted the pictures with turquoise and the printed paper was an ivory base with all three colors mixed in with the printed flowers.

I tried to fill in space with buttons. I didn’t want to over do any of the embellishments because the printed paper was busy enough. I’ll be trying to enter a challenge 2 to 3 times a week because I really need to get on the ball with all of this beautiful card making and scrapbooking stuff we have.

Over time my scrapbook pages and creations are getting better and I’m really excited to see how much better I can get. Mom is still teaching me stuff everyday.

Thank for those who looked. Now get to scrappin’ those scrapbooks and keepsakes

Scrapbook Page Challenge: Playing in the Mud

This week I decided to enter a scrapbook challenge at The Color Throw down Blog. The challenge was to create a scrapbook page or card using three specific colors: old olive, baja breeze and crumb cake. I decided to use some pictures of me and the kids playing in the mud after a rainstorm. It actually turned out better than I thought.

I struggled with this challenge believe it or not. I don’t usually choose colors like this and because I struggled with the colors I struggled with putting the page together. That is the reason I picked this challenge this week, it got me out of my comfort zone and I am very pleased with the results of my scrapbook page creation.

100_1374

I think the page turned out really, really well. All of the scrapbook page embellishments are made using the cricut cutter. I made the letter “M” using the “Day at the Zoo” cricut cartridge and the brown background that looks like a mud puddle behind the pictures is a border from the cricut cartridge “Paper Lace”.

The “day at the zoo” cartridge has really cute lettering as well as cut outs for animals. The “paper lace” cartridge is very feminine and elegant, a great choice for girly pages.

The letters that spell “mud” are chipboard letters and give the page a nice three-dimensional or raised effect. I’ve been wanting to use these pictures for awhile and struggled with a color scheme to use, but I think that this turned out really nice. Let me know what you guys think.

Scrapbook Page Ideas: Baby Boy Scrapbook Page

This is probably one of the best scrapbook pages I’ve ever done, but hey I say that about all the pages I do. This scrapbook page layout shows pictures of my son (Riley) playing in his walker when he was about 8 months old. I used several different tools to complete the look of this page, but each can be easily replicated if you don’t have the tools needed.

100_1043 (300x225)
The background of this page is a 12x12 sheet of cardstock in a yellow-y mustard-like color. I don’t know how to describe it. The color is a little brighter than a plain yellow, but not quite as bright as a mustard color. The green background features cute little cars and roadways, zipping and zooming all over the page. This is a We R Memory Keepers 12x12 page that I cut down to about 10x10 and placed on top of the yellow.
The pictures are 4x6 sizes that were cut down slightly to fit best and look right on the page I was creating and outlined with blue cardstock. The journaling in the bottom right-hand side of the page was typed into a circular frame on word and printed out. I then used a circular object, such as a cup or coffee can to trace the circles and then cut one out on the printer paper and then a slightly larger circle from a piece of red cardstock.
Creating Keepsakes Scrapbook Designer Deluxe
The cute little car in the top right-hand corner and the words “Play Time” listed in the left-center of the page are where you will need special tools. I created the words “Play Time” using a special font program on my computer by Creating Keepsakes. This program is great for creating really cute fonts, saving you time and energy for other things. You can easily make these fonts yourself if you have the time. Cut out blocks from white cardstock and blocks slightly bigger than the white, in  red cardstock. Glue those together and stamp or if you have good hand writing, write the letters in the white and red blocks for an actual handmade look.

The car was made using the Sizzix car stencil or die cut. The edges were perforated on the car die-cut so I was able to punch out the car in different colors, tear it apart and piece it back together with glue and in the end created a three dimensional car that is absoulutely adorable on this baby boy scrapbook page. If you are somewhat of an artist you could easily create a stencil of a car, trace it on several different colors of cardstock and then cut the pieces out to create your own unique car for this page, but the Sizzix car die cut can be purchased below if you wish to purchase one of you own. I have lots of little boy pictures with racing themes so this die-cut is worth it to me. The banner behind car I made myself just cutting strips of black and white cardstock.
Now get to scrappin’ those scrapbooks and keepsakes!

Scrapbooking Ideas: Scrapbook Page Christmas Baskets

Chances are you’ve seen the baskets I’m talking about and think that only bored little old ladies create them, but that simply isn’t true. Most of the time these scrapbook page baskets are a way to repurpose and reuse greeting cards sent out at Christmas time. I always get tickled when Mom makes these little baskets cause they are very cute and great for organization, but I can’t help but think that people make these or reuse the cards so someone doesn’t get upset because you threw their greeting card in the trash or in a recycling bin. LOL!
You can easily make these baskets to work for anything theme using the same pattern and technique, but instead of using greeting cards just use the thick cardstock-like patterned scrapbook paper. Create these baskets to decorate for a birthday party with items you already have or a wedding and place party favors or candy for guests to grab on their way out as a thank you gift. Mom and I have made several of these for other people and she kept one for herself, here is a picture of one below.
100_1034 (300x225)
ITEMS NEEDED:
  • 14 Cards
  • Glue
  • Yarn and Needle
  • Awl
This is a list of items needed if you are creating a card basket, but can easily be adjusted if you are using scrapbook paper. The awl at the bottom of the list is to punch the holes into the thick cardstock. I’m sure you’re thinking…”why not use a hole punch?” Well the holes only need to be big enough for the thread to get through. Making Memories has a tool kit available that has smaller tools in one convenient place that you may use while you’re doing any type of paper crafts. This kit includes a setting tool, a hammer, an awl, needles, tweezers, pliers and a setting mat all in a small compact case. The great thing about this kit is that the tools are not cheaply made, it’s easy to store in any craft bag or sit on a desk and the tools all have their own place in the case.

Echo Park paper company has two of the most adorable paper for those readers who would love to make these for Christmas. The picture here is of my favorite collection by Echo Park, Everybody Loves Christmas that will be sure to warm your heart and the receiver of this wonderful gift.

All Free Crafts has an article dedicated to creating this card basket and also a free template you can download and print can be found at their site.
So go ahead and make your own basket and get to scrappin’ those scrapbooks and keepsakes!

Scrapbook Pages: Goodies for Summertime Fun!

With children out for the summer, holiday celebrations and family vacations to be planned; there will be tons of great pictures you will want to place in your scrapbook album. The good news for you is that some of the best scrapbook companies offer some of the most beautiful scrapbook collections that pertain to summer fun at the beach, visiting the zoo and of course 4th of July. Here are current scrapbook page collections from the biggest scrapbooking companies so you can make your favorite summertime memories look their best.

Vacation Collections:
Vroom 12X12 Wander Collection Paper (Basic Grey)
Basic Grey: Wander Collection – If you’re familiar with the Basic Grey company and collections, then you know their backgrounds tend to be a little more eclectic than the collections featured by other companies. The wander collection covers several big travel destinations and also features traditional travel pages with roads, maps and road signs you may see on your trip.

K&Company Around The World Flat Paper 12"X12" Sea Cruise; 25 Items/Order
K and Company: Brenda Walton Designs Around the World – Extremely adorable collection and a must have for anyone that will be putting together a scrapbook of summer vacations. The great thing about this collection, as with anything K and Company puts out, is the fact that they have journal tags, post cards, die cuts and other embellishments available that correspond with this collection.

Beach Collections:
Beach Bag 12X12 Barefoot & Bliss Collection Paper (Bo Bunny)
Bo Bunny: Barefoot and Bliss – If you are looking for a page perfect for a boy, girl or family scrapbook layout this is a great choice for a beach page. Bo Bunny incorporates Hawaiian flowers, waves and of course the colors blue, yellow and orange. This is by far my favorite collection for a beach theme because I can use this collection to showcase pictures for any gender and the fun summer colors on each page are perfect for at the beach pictures.

Zoo and Animal Collections:
Actopus To Zelephant Double-Sided Specialty Paper Pad 12x12"-28 Sheets
K and Company: Actopus to Zelephant – This is the most adorable zoo or animal collection I have ever seen in my entire life and can easily be used for more than just zoo pages. This collection has a child like theme to it, but will be a favorite among both young and old scrapbookers or any gender. The scrapbook pages are too cute to pass up and the clear acrylic letter stamps that were made for this collection are very unique. Each letter is illustrated in some way to represent an animal. For example, the letter “S” is bent to look like a seahorse and “B” looks like a bear. Here are the stamps Actopus To Zelephant Stamps-Alphabet
Stripe 12X12 Zoology Collection Paper (Bo Bunny)
Bo Bunny: Zoology – This collection is for more mature pictures and comes in every single animal print you can possibly think of: tiger, zebra, giraffe and I think they have a tortoise shell printed paper. This collection is a little dark for Bo Bunny and isn’t one of my favorites, but can be used for the scrapbooking individuals that aren’t big on the cutesy scrapbook collections done by other companies.

Independence Day Collections:

K and Company: Americana and All – This collection will make your favorite 4th of July celebrations and pictures more beautiful than they were before. The nostalgic feel to these scrapbook pages and the beautiful red, white and blue hues will have you wishing that everyday was 4th of July.
Liberty Collection Collection Pack (Bo Bunny)
Bo Bunny: Liberty – A little brighter than the collection released by K and Company, but I can’t say which is better because they both offer things I like and dislike. Check out this collection as another option to use for your July holiday photos and scrapbook albums.

Scrapbook Layouts: Birthday Girl Scrapbook Page

First off before I show the picture of the scrapbook pages Mom and I have made this week I want to apologize to everyone that has visited the blog this week looking for our challenge scrapbook pages. Mom and I missed a whole week of work because my computer’s motherboard and battery went out. The technician should have been here to fix my computer the next day, but instead it took almost a week to get my parts in. By the time I got my computer fixed I had to make up for lost time at work. I need my computer for our scrapbook blog as well as my work, so I was way behind. Without further ado, here is my challenge that should have been posted last week. If you don’t remember the challenge check out the blog post HERE.

100_0992 (300x225)

I must admit this page was an absolute nightmare for me to finish. I tried three different layouts with different scrapbook papers and page layouts before I finally decided on this page. My problem wasn’t incorporating the themes which were birthday and playtime because I had the perfect pictures to incorporate both, but with the plaid theme that I choose. I had to incorporate pink and plaid… I was excited about the color pink (it’s my favorite color), but I wasn’t excited about incorporating plaid into my scrapbook page layout…..I HATE plaid and I couldn’t get a layout to look right with plaid. When I finally put this page together, which was very simple, I was very happy with it! Sometimes less is more with a scrapbook page.

Items Needed:

Fiskars 1298937797 Fiskars 12" Personal Paper Trimmer, 10-Sheet Capacity, 12" Cut Length
Cre8-a-Page 8.5x11 Fluorescent/Neon Cardstock Multi-Color Pack, 25 Sheets, 5 Colors Card Stock
Cricut Cartridge, Paper Lace

I didn’t really use any particular items for this birthday girl scrapbook page because it’s mainly hot pink and neon green cardstock and a generic pink plaid paper from Michaels that I picked up a couple of months ago when they had their paper on sale. For more about saving money at Michaels and A.C. Moore check out my previous post about looking for coupons in the Sunday paper Here.

The only popular product that I did use for the main embellishments on this page was the CRICUT PAPER LACE CARTRIDGE. I used the Paper Lace cartridge for the title and the pink and white flower cut out on the bottom-right corner of the scrapbook pages main photograph.

HOW IT WAS MADE:

I started off with a 12x12 plain white background. On the white background I cut a piece of 12x12 pink plaid scrapbook paper down to fit 3/4 of the page, but left the white background peeking around the edges about a quarter of an inch to add a little dimension and bring out the white in the plaid and white lettering I added later. I cut a two inch strip of hot pink cardstock and glued it to the left side of the page and covered the seam with a piece of two inch neon green cardstock overlapping the hot pink and plaid paper.
I printed these photos from a computer program and with my printer, so that I could adjust the size of my pictures to perfectly fit the layout. The small pictures were glued to the green strip, creating a movie reel look, and were according to my photo editing program “thumb print” size. I covered the edges of the photos and green paper to make them look as if they were connected to one another with neon green ribbon that has a white stitched edge down each side.
The last things I added were the embellishments made with the PAPER LACE CRICUT CARTRIDGE. I cut the individual letters out at 1 or 1 1/2” I can’t remember which. For some reason I can’t get the setting right to make capital letters on this cartridge, so if anyone can give me a heads up let me know in the comments section. I tried every setting for every letter and couldn’t get it to work so that’s why the letters for the “Birthday Girl” titled scrapbook page are all lower-cased. The flower was cut out in pink at 3” and 2 1/2” in white cardstock. The flower is on page 36 of the PAPER LACE instruction manual and the buttons that should be pressed on your CRICUT MACHINE are “Flower 7” followed by the “Base Shadow” button on the left side of the key pad. I then placed a green number two sticker in the center of the flower cut out to symbolize how old my little girl was in this picture.
Leave your comments on what you think of the layout. I think it turned out great! Don’t forget to add a link to your challenge if you made one for this challenge too. Feel free to give us any pointers, what you would’ve added or how much you like it.
Now get to scrappin’ those scrapbooks and keepsakes.

New Scrapbook Challenge

If you haven’t been following our blog, recently Mom and I decided to do our own challenge every week. We draw strips of paper from a bowl with different theme, colors and tools we have to incorporate into our scrapbook layout. To read more about our first challenge and how we came up with the idea read more here. You can also view our previous scrapbook challenge from last week here Beach Theme or Grandkids Theme.

100_0986 (300x225)
This week Mom and I dumped all the categories into one basket. So the color, theme, embellishments and tools are all together. We both picked out five different strips of paper from the basket and the picture above is what we have to do a scrapbook page on for next Friday.

VIEW THE FINISHED CHALLENGE PAGES HERE: Mom's Halloween Page and My Birthday Page.

Mom:

  • Paisley
  • Glitter
  • Kids
  • Halloween
  • Stripes
Me:
  • Playtime
  • Birthday
  • Bo Bunny
  • Pink
  • Plaid
I’m very excited to see how Mom incorporates paisley with Halloween because we have to use all five categories in our scrapbook page layouts. I have to incorporate two themes, but thank God I didn’t draw two random themes. It will be a challenge to put this page together with the embellishments and tools, but not with the themes because there is always playtime at a birthday party.
Come back next Friday to see the pages Mom and I make for this challenge and don’t forget to join in. Now, get to scrappin’ those scrapbooks and keepsakes.

Scrapbook Page Challenge: Creative Grandkids Scrapbook Layout

100_0982 (300x225)
My scrapbook page theme for this week’s challenge had to do with grandkids. I also had to incorporate three out of four other choices that included: the colors orange and yellow, Sizzix die cuts and Martha Stewart products. To read more about how we came up with this challenge read more here.

This challenge, believe it or not, was actually a challenge for me. It wasn’t difficult because of the items I had to incorporate different elements into the page, but because I had to follow rules for what I used. I like to think outside the box and the fact that I had guidelines to follow made it challenging. You can also view Mom’s challenge scrapbook layout for her beach theme here.

Items Needed:
  1.  Making Memories Black Gingham Paper
  2. Bo Bunny 12x12 Specialty Paper-Sunflower Fun
  3. Sizzix 655268 Big Shot Cutting-and-Embossing Roller-Style Machine
  4. Sizzix Picket Fence Die Cut
  5. Making Memories Ledger Paper
  6. Bo Bunny Cardstock Stickers - Grandparents
  7. Fiskars 9698 Euro 12-Inch Portable Paper Trimmer

How I Created This Page:

The background of the page is a splice between two different patterned pages. The sunflower background is by Bo Bunny called Tuscany Garden and the black and white piece is Black Gingham by Making Memories. The yellow background for the pictures is a piece of 8 1/2” mustard colored piece of cardstock trimmed down slightly using a Fiskars Paper Cutter. The journal section in the lower right-hand corner of the page is a piece I cut out from a 12x12” scrapbook page by Making Memories called Ledger Combo. This page features several different ledgers on a background that you can keep as one background or cut each one out individually to use on several pages.

The white picket fence at the bottom edge of the page is a Sizzix die cut called Picket Fence. There are four stickers used on the page, three that look like bullets on the left of the top picture and one large sticker with a quote about grandparents. I used these stickers to incorporate the orange color on my page. The stickers are embellished in the center with random buttons. The stickers are Grandparent stickers made by Bo Bunny.
Please keep up with our challenges by visiting every Friday and don’t forget to join in. Now get to scrappin’ those scrapbooks and keepsakes!

Scrapbook Challenge

Mom and I have decided to motivate ourselves to create more unique scrapbook pages and layouts. We haven't decided if we will do a scrapbooking challenge every week or every other week, but we are very motivated and excited to share with you what we will be working on. At the end of this article I will announce what are challenge will be for this week.

Mom and I were sitting around the table today at lunch and we were talking about ways to get us motivated to try new things. We were reading about some other challenges on blogs that we like to visit, such as the Just Rite blog that post new challenges every couple of weeks to get those brain juices flowing. That's when I came up with the bright idea to create our own challenge. Mom and I first made a list of 10 scrapbook page themes and a list of 10 different colors. We cut out each theme and color so it was on a strip of paper and folded each in half. We placed the themes in one bowl and the colors in the other.

Here is us drawing our pieces of paper from each bowl. We were to choose one strip of paper out of the theme bowl and two strips of paper from the color bowl.  After choosing the theme and colors I told mom that we needed to utilize some of the numerous tools and embellishments she had by different companies. So we created two more categories. One for tools and embellishments and the other for certain companies. After placing the strips of paper into a bowl we took one strip of paper from each bowl.

 100_0948 (300x228)

100_0949 (300x238)

Rules of the Challenge:

  1. Challenges must be complete by next Friday
  2. Scrapbook layouts may incorporate other embellishments, colors or tools but must be minimal. The bulk of the page should consist of the items or themes listed on the strips of paper drawn.
  3. The theme of the page can not be changed ,however; three of the other four items on the strips of paper can be used. If a contestant (Mom and I) choose to use all five of the items listed on our strips of paper we only get brownie points. LOL!
  4. HAVE FUN SCRAPBOOKING!

Here is a picture of the first three strips of paper Mom and I choose. (No we didn't peak)

Can't wait to show you guys what we come up with for next Friday. Feel free to try one of these lists for your own challenge and post a link to your challenge scrapbook page in the comments section below. Don't forget to follow us so you'll know when new posts are up to view.

Scrapbook Page Instructions:
This is one of my favorite scrapbook pages made by my mom, but the page also features products from my favorite scrapbook company, K & Company. As I said in a previous post my sister is getting married in July so we are creating a scrapbook to give to her as a wedding gift. Some of the scrapbook layouts we are creating will have pictures in them, but a few pages we are creating specifically for her wedding pictures, even though they haven’t been taken yet. This wedding scrapbook page has a black and white theme, but are not the colors chosen for the wedding party. We have also created a wedding scrapbook page dedicated to her wedding colors which are purple and a shade of olive green. That page will be posted later on this week, Mom and I aren’t completely satisfied with its (the new wedding page) appearance yet.

The left page background is a ivory and black specialty paper from K and Company. This paper is also featured as a small bordering piece on the right side of the opposite page. The heart shaped picture holders on the left page were made using a heart cuttlebug embossing and cutting folder and ivory white cardstock. The background behind the heart-shaped photograph holders uses black cardstock. In the bottom right corner of the left layout are two hearts. These hearts were hearts created using the same heart cuttlebug embossing and cutting folder. At the top right corner of this page is a small place to journal with a date or the name of the couple getting married, in this case my sister and her soon to be hubby.

The right page is a very simple page, but looks very elegant, perfect for a wedding scrapbook page. There isn’t a special technique, special tool or special product used on this page; just regular ivory and black cardstock, a silver quote brad and two pearl embellishments on each side of the silver brad quote. The stamped image on the side of this page is a Anna Griffin stamp that is absolutely beautiful.

Scrapbook Page Using NEW Martha Stewart Punches

100_0937 (300x225)

This is a two page layout mom created, but I decided to only post one. ( I need a new camera.) This scrapbook page, made using K&Company scrapbook papers, can be used for pictures with a more outdoorsy feel or pictures that may not have a particular theme. The picture is of my sister, catching her first fish. It's a good memory, but a picture that may be hard to place or create a scrapbook page for. Look below for a list of items we used or are similar and how we created the layout. Oh, by the way, there is a sneak peek of a new Martha Stewart item used on this page that isn't available in stores yet!

Items Needed:

KandCompany Wild Saffron 12-Inch by 12-Inch Paper Pad

KandCompany Tim Coffey Cottage Garden Tag Pad, Journal

The punch used to create the floral design on the top of the page can't be purchased in stores yet because it is an exclusive Martha Stewart punch set. We will have three more unreleased Martha Stewart punch sets available in the next couple of months. These punches will be released between the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012.

Cardstock - Butternut (or that's what Mom calls it) and Brown

Putting it Together:

Mom has been wanting to figure out a way to use this picture for awhile now and I think she made it look good. I can't tell if the K&Company paper has daisies or sunflowers on it, but the background is a deep red and the flowers are a beige color. She used the butternut colored cardstock to enhance and bring attention to the picture and not the background. There is also room left above the picture for journaling or dates. She placed the journaling tag, also K&Company, on the right side of the page to give a brief description of what was going on in the picture. The brown cardstock has a punched floral border around the top edge. The punch used hasn't been released in stores yet, but you can see a sneak peek of the new punch set in another post.

This page will be going into my sisters scrapbook as a gift to her for her wedding in July. Be on the look out for a few of her wedding scrapbook pages soon.

We will also be posting a few more spring and Easter layouts and later this week we will see a couple scrapbook pages that I created and spent less than a couple of dollars to make.

Thoughts on the layout:
This is a one-page scrapbook layout with a lot of different options, and of course made by me (Jessica) because I don’t like to do two-page layouts. The type of photos that would look best on this scrapbook background are black and white, antique, outdoor pictures or for dress-up and tea party pictures. This scrapbook page is recommended for intermediate and advanced scrapbookers because of the time it takes to complete, the amount of products used and the cost involved with acquiring the products used because buying them all at one time can be EXPENSIVE!
P.S. Overlook the missing button in the top left corner on my scrapbook page. I didn’t realize it was missing until after this post was uploaded. Ooops.

What I Used and How I Used It:
The main background of this Victorian-styled scrapbook page is a 12x12 of light blue cardstock. Now, we will start from the left side of the layout. The floral paper on the left side is a strip of scrapbook background paper made by Chatter Box Inc. It’s hard to see on the picture, but three punched and embossed flowers are pressed into the floral paper. This is a flower punch from one of Martha Stewart’s punch collections. The flower looks like it is casting a shadow because the main background paper peaks out underneath. In the center of the flowers are small blue buttons. The Chatter Box paper is nice, but there is a set with multiple floral papers that are very nice as well called Plaid Paper Journey's "American Florals" Paper Collection Scrapbook Paper

The mauve strip next to floral design has a lot of different, but useful options for this page. I always leave room for options on my scrapbook pages just in case I change my mind about what I would like to put their later. The strip can be used to attach mementos from the event, journaling entries or you can add more embellishments. This mauve strip was cut from cardstock about 2 inches in width. The pearl embellishments are Brown Faux Pearls made by Color Stories.
The gray squares are cut to hold your pictures. These were pre-cut 4x6 inch pieces of cardstock, but I re-cut them to 4x4 (totally my choice, you could make them bigger or smaller).
The purple background is a piece of 12x12 cardstock I cut to fit just a little inside the main light blue background, but I can’t remember the exact size, it took several tries. (Next time I'll try to remember those measurements.) The floral border design around the edges is also a Martha Stewart punch, specifically made for creating boarders.
The quotes on my page are very meaningful. Since you can’t see them in the picture here’s what they say….
“Laughter is a gift everyone should open.”
“Life is better when it’s fun.”
“Joy is the feeling of grinning on the inside.”
The quotes on my page are written in a very beautiful font on a clear, bubble-like sticker made by Cloud 9 Design. The stickers were then placed on small pieces of mauve cardstock cut slightly bigger than the stickers themselves.
The floral embellishment stickers in the two corners on the right side of the scrapbook layout really make this page POP! You could easily created your own personalized die-cut stickers, but if you don’t have the tools to do it with these are much easier. The floral embellishments are made Sandylion Essentials and are cute enough to use on all kinds of scrapbook pages you create. Sandylion also creates another set of stickers that would look good as well called Sandylion Dimensional Stickers - Sunburst Flowers
Hope you enjoyed this layout as well and get to scrapping.
Jessica and Brenda (Mom)
